About Us
A dedication to quality
Headquartered in Healdsburg, California, in the heart of world-famous Sonoma County, McIntyre is the only tile manufacturer employing the same high-fired, cone 10-reduction process used in fine ceramic studios.
McIntyre consistently leads the industry in innovation - through careful attention to every detail of our manufacturing process - and in style - by regularly introducing new motifs of hand-painted and carved tiles.
McIntyre's renowned decorative tiles feature hand-painted artwork and hand-cut mosaics. We pioneered wet-cut mosaic decorative tiles - dramatically effective for small- and large-scale graphics and murals. You won't find mass-production decorative techniques, such as decals or screen prints, on our products.
A legacy of creativity
In the early 1970s, the McIntyre team - a small ensemble of ceramics artisans and engineers - spent a year developing our original stoneware field tiles. San Francisco architects and designers prized these first efforts for their warm, earthy look and unique color character.
When the use of color exploded in the 1980s, McIntyre's ceramics team created an entirely new palette of hues for a pure white porcelain claybody. Customers now had a choice of two distinct styles, stoneware or porcelain. We also added trim tiles and extruded trim to our product lines.
In 1994, McIntyre returned to the company's early aesthetic roots with the introduction of our California Arts and Crafts Series. These tiles feature a more rustic look, a textured surface, and a hand-finished quality.
McIntyre introduced Provence, a charming and colorful collection of tiles, in 1998. Provence tiles offer pure, brilliant colors, and a rustic hand-molded look for attractively informal style.
In the summer of 2000, McIntyre launched the Legacy series, featuring crackle glazes with either matte or glossy surfaces. Legacy comes in an array of light neutral colors with moderate tonal variation.
For the new millennium, McIntyre introduced the Piedras series. Reflecting exacting craftsmanship, Piedras is our most naturalistic and variegated design. These glaze combinations compliment many other natural materials, including stone, wood, and fiber.
A reputation for relationships
At McIntyre Tile, we're proud of our long-term associations with distinguished tile showrooms, architects, and designers across the United States. We recognize that without the professionals who specify and market our products, we're just another little tile company in California. Thank you for buying McIntyre Tile. We hope that every time you admire our stunning handiwork, you'll think of the dedicated, creative people behind the craft.
